Foot Massage Basic Methods

!±8± Foot Massage Basic Methods

When performing foot massage, you should know some basic moves. They can help tremendously, saving your thumbs from doing all the work.

Cradling

Just like rocking a baby in his or her cradle, you can do the same with your partner's foot. Use both of your palms and provide support at the ankle or ball of the foot. Move your hands back and forth in a fast manner. Why should you perform the cradle move? This is because it serves as a good warm up. You can also use it halfway during a foot massage.

Thumb worming technique

Like its name suggests, use your thumb to "creep" along the feet like a worm. At the same time, apply pressure on the foot. Start by placing your thumb flat on the foot. Then move the thumb forward by bending it inwards, making it move forward. Be careful of sharp fingernails, you don't want to scratch your partner's foot on purpose.

Index finger method

For some parts of the foot, using your thumb can be inconvenient. So you have to rely on your index finger. For example, these spots will be the top of the foot or its sides. This way you can slide along the foot with your index finger.

Foot wringing

Use both hands to do this. Using your left hand, hold the ball of the foot. Your right hand should grab the upper foot firmly. Then, twist gently in opposite directions. You want to avoid sudden movements when doing this.

Circling the ankles

Hold the Achilles tendon using one hand, as if supporting it from the bottom. Then grab the upper foot and turn it clockwise and counter-clockwise. This method warms up the ligaments.
